Welcome to the second issue of
Interfaithings, a quarterly electronic
newsletter, seeking to promote interfaith
understanding in the Twin Cities
metropolitan area.*
In this issue, we are pleased to offer
information and reflections regarding the
Sacred Season of Peace-Making. In the
autumn of 2007, the holy days of at least
nine religions occur in
close proximity to one
another. Inspired by that
synchronicity, Sacred
Season is a period during
which faith communities
are being urged to come
together and explore
what their traditions
teach about violence and
peace making. For
detailed information
concerning many of the
Twin Cities Sacred Season events
scheduled for this fall, please go to
www.interfaithings.org
; then click on
"Sacred Season Events" and "Further
Sacred Season Events."
Also in this issue, you will find:
• One Muslim's perspective on
suicide bombing
• Part Two of a conversation,begun in
our previous issue, on Israel,
Palestine, and peace-making
Interfaithings is published by the
Interfaith Bridging Initiative or IBI.
IBI was launched in the summer of 2006
as a partnership between the Mall Area
Religious Council (MARC) and the Twin
Cities chapter of the
Parliament of the
World's Religions
(P.O.W.R.). Thanks to a
generous three year
grant from the Otto
Bremer Foundation, the
Bridging Initiative has
begun to make a
difference. In addition
to publishing this
newsletter, IBI
maintains the website,
www.interfaithings.org
and hosts events.
The next such event is Peace and Violence
in Our Non-Abrahamic Traditions, one of
the events honoring Sacred Season of
Peace–Making. To electronically register

*Interfaithings was initially intended to be a bimonthly publication. Due to the
exigencies of creating a quality newsletter/journal with an almost entirely
volunteer staff, that time table has been changed. Interfaithings will, in fact,
appear four times a year at three month intervals.
